About the Library

General Library Objectives

The Gilmore City Public Library serves the community through the following objectives:

  1. To assemble, preserve, and manage organized collections of books and related educational and recreational materials, including audiovisual resources, in order to promote the communication of ideas, informed citizenship, and enriched personal lives.

  2. To serve the community as a reliable and trusted source of information.

  3. To support the educational, civic, and cultural activities of community groups and organizations.

  4. To continually identify community needs and provide programs and services to meet those needs, while cooperating with other organizations, agencies, and institutions offering related services.

  5. To provide opportunities for access to technology through literature, videos, and electronic devices.


Library Hours

The Gilmore City Public Library is open during the following hours:

  • Monday: 1:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.

  • Tuesday: 1:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.

  • Wednesday: 1:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.

  • Thursday: 1:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.

  • Friday: 1:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.

  • Saturday: 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.

Closings due to inclement weather are at the discretion of the Library Director. When possible, announcements will be made via local Humboldt radio, the library’s Facebook page, and posted on the library door.


Library Closures and Holidays

The library shall be closed in observance of the following holidays and/or in accordance with City holidays:

  • New Year’s Day

  • Memorial Day

  • Independence Day

  • Labor Day

  • Veterans Day

  • Thanksgiving Day

  • Friday after Thanksgiving

  • Christmas Eve

  • Christmas Day

  • New Year’s Eve
